I chose to redesign Dr. Robert's bedroom from the film. This still is the first time we are introduced to this space and when this scene was playing out the first time I watched it, I remembered thinking to myself "oof, he's acting like he's God or something?!". This very thought became the concept of this project.

CONCEPT:

For a little context: This still is from one of the initial scenes in the film. Dr. Robert has been introduced to us as a famous and renowned plastic surgeon who has successfully created the strongest skin. His methods are unknown but he is presenting his research at a gathering of the top professionals in the field. Everybody becomes wary of him because they know in order to prove his findings, he had to have tested it on a human which would make it unethical. He ignores the reactions for he is simple too proud of his discovery, he goes back home, fills up a glass of wine and lays on this couch, looking at his creation.

It's fascinating to think of and depict the idea of a plastic surgeon feeling like they're God, for they are creators if you think about it. The concept of this piece was to imagine if Dr.Robert quite literally played into this, and took over an old abandoned church as his home, for he believes he is God. I wanted to create a space with a deep hallway flanked with dense columns, the proportions to be way bigger than the character to create a sense of irony - our eye is led to this very tiny piece of a man who is nothing but a criminal, taking over a place of holy worship.
