THE CHALLENGE: Dream-like version of 'Love Island', the reality show her girlfriend was obsessed with. This was a challenging design as the budget was extremely limited yet the set had to fake an expensive reality show TV look watched by many, in order for the audience to fully believe the world.
My approach to the design in its multiple iterations was to play with geometry and color. I happened to get lucky on my visits to eco-set where I found arches and curved flats trashed in a corner. Juxtaposing them against each other on a huge circular rug and color hunting for the most accurate shades of pink nailed the look.
The set was furnished with cheap furniture from Facebook, painting them all pink and white to match the look. The color of the cushions on the actual set of the show is a distinct quality that everyone seemed to recognize about the show instantly so I retained that along with the fake plants in my design so that some of the elements on set match the TV look.
Lastly, the secret ingredient was to spray the set with a lovely perfume for the actors to instantly be transported to this dream like set I had the opportunity to create for the movie.

The intention behind this arrangement of geometry was to resemble a sort of Graveyard - resembling Ezzi's grief for Mars' death.

This whole set was designed to be under 800$, all done simply by putting together some recycled pieces and A LOT of Pink paint, haha.
